RCMP have charged a 19-year-old man after a cap gun was allegedly fired at a woman in Portage la Prairie, Man., on Tuesday. Mounties say they received a report around 5:15 p.m. on Oct. 13 that a man had pointed a cap gun at a woman and fired it at her. Police say the incident happened in the 1800 block of Saskatchewan Avenue West. They allege someone inside a truck yelled at a 31-year-old woman as she tended to her child. When she turned toward the truck, the suspect was pointing what appeared to be a firearm at her and fired. No one was injured. RCMP say the suspect and the woman did not know each other. Officers patrolled the area, found the truck and conducted a traffic stop in the 600 block of 9th Street Northwest. Three men were arrested at the scene. RCMP say a search of the truck turned up three cap guns, one of which had its orange tip removed, making it look more like a real firearm. Police also seized assorted ammunition and caps. The 19-year-old man from Portage la Prairie is charged with using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence and uttering threats. He remains in custody and none of the charges have been proven in court. The other two men were released without charges.
