Fire crews battled a grass fire just north of Calgary on Thursday afternoon. Thick smoke and flames could be seen coming from a rural property near Highway 566 and Symons Valley Road. A large swath of farmland, hay bales and a piece of farming equipment have been charred by flames. Rocky View County, along with Calgary fire crews, was on scene. Around 6:30 p.m., a spokesperson for Rocky View County issued an update, saying the fire was out and crews were clearing the scene. There were no injuries and no structures were involved. No word yet on what caused the fire.
