Expect a sneak peek at the Edmonton Oilers’ season-opening lineup this weekend. Head coach Mike Babcock said Tuesday, following his team’s 2-1 overtime preseason win over the host Winnipeg Jets, that the Oilers will ice a roster made up mostly of hopefuls and prospects Thursday in Vancouver against the Canucks. For Saturday’s final preseason tune-up at Rogers Place against the Calgary Flames, Edmonton is expected to turn to its established National Hockey League veterans in what will serve as the club’s last dress rehearsal before the regular season. Over the final two exhibition games and next week’s practices, Babcock said the focus remains on getting “better” and concentrating on the “process and get feeling good about ourselves.” “We’ll worry about where that goes from there,” he told reporters Tuesday morning. The Oilers open the regular season next Tuesday against the Canucks at Rogers Place.
