Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker and running back A.J. Ouellette will be making their return to the starting offence. The team revealed the comebacks Thursday with the release of its roster for Friday’s game against the B.C. Lions. Ouellete has missed the last seven games with a knee injury, Schaffer-Baker the past six – also due to a knee injury. The Riders’ tailback has appeared in just four games in 2026 – spending two separate stints on the injured list. With just 63 carries this year, Ouellette has just 288 rushing yards – on pace for less than 650 yards, which would be his second-lowest rushing output in three seasons as a Roughrider. Despite that, the seven-year CFL veteran is averaging over 4.5 yards per carry. He also has four catches for 50 receiving yards. Schaffer-Baker went down the week following Ouellette’s most recent injury. In seven games this season, KSB remains second on the team in receiving yards (704); just 355 yards less than top receiver KeeSean Johnson (1,059) in half the games. Nineteen of Schaffer-Baker’s 45 catches have come on second down. He has four touchdowns and is averaging 15.6 yards per catch. With both Ouellette and Schaffer-Baker out, Saskatchewan was 3-3 and averaged 23.8 points per game over the six-game stretch. Receiver Dylan Djete will also start with Daniel Wiebe dealing with a suspected concussion. This is the second game in a row the former U of S Huskie has missed. On defence, linebackers Josh Woods and Seyi Oladipo Jr. are out of the lineup. Antoine Brooks Jr., who has not played since Week 12, is back at the nickel back spot for Oladipo. In the secondary, 2026 first round CFL Canadian Draft pick Malcolm Bell starts at cornerback – his first professional start on defence. With five games remaining this season, and a tight battle in the West Division, Saskatchewan is in second place at 8-5. The Riders can guarantee themselves a position in the postseason with a win Friday over B.C. if Winnipeg loses to Toronto and Calgary loses to Ottawa.
