Over $120,000 worth of contraband has been seized at Saskatchewan Penitentiary. According to a news release from the Correctional Service of Canada on Thursday, methamphetamine, THC concentrate and a cell phone were seized in packages on Sept. 21. Officials estimate the institutional value of the seizure at $122,000. “The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) uses a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions,” the agency said. “These tools include ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates, and visitors.” CSC has set up a telephone tip line for all federal institutions. Tips can include drug use or trafficking that could threaten the safety of visitors, inmates and staff.
