Time has almost expired for the holder of a $40 million Lotto Max ticket sold in Grey County to cash in on their fortune. Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) said the winning ticket from the Oct. 28, 2025 Lotto Max draw will expire by the end of Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026 if no one steps forward to claim the prize. The winning area includes Owen Sound, Meaford, The Blue Mountains, Flesherton, Markdale, Durham, and Hanover. The winning numbers for the Lotto Max draw in question were – 06, 14, 17, 19, 26, 43, 45, with Bonus Number 27. According to OLG, the unknown winner could be completely oblivious to the fact they won, given where the ticket was won and who frequents the area. “Because Grey County is a popular destination for tourists, cottagers and day-trippers, there is possibility that the winning ticket may not belong to a local resident. Someone visiting the area could have purchased the ticket, tucked it away and never realized they were holding a $40 million jackpot winner,” the gaming corporation said in a media release. If the ticket expires, it would be the second largest lottery prize to ever go unclaimed in Canadian history, only beaten by a $70 million Lotto Max prize sold in Scarborough from a June 28, 2022 draw. Those who believe they could be the lucky winner are being urged to check the OLG app or any lottery terminal at authorized retailers to validate their tickets. “OLG has very detailed information about this winning ticket. However, because the ticket was purchased at a lottery retailer, we don’t know the identity of the person or group that purchased it. As with all OLG prize claims, a review process is conducted to determine the rightful ownership of the ticket,” said OLG. Come Thursday, the $40 million prize will be returned to the Lotto Max prize pool for future games and promotions if there is no fabled winner.
