Two Huron county residents are facing charges after a traffic stop in Goderich on June 9 led investigators to seize more than $15,000 in drugs, cash, and drug paraphernalia. According to police, on Tues. June 9, police stopped the driver in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh (ACW) and arrested them on a drug-related offense. A second traffic stop in the nearby town of Goderich saw the driver face additional similar charges. Investigators then obtained a search warrant for an address on Gibbons Street, where they seized $2,240 of cocaine, as well as the accused’s vehicle, weigh scales, a money counter, and cellphones totaling $8,300. They also seized more than $5,500 in currency. A 57-year-old woman from ACW faces charges of possession of a schedule I substance, and a 28-year-old man from Goderich faces the charges of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, as well as trafficking cocaine. Both were subsequently released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
