Last fall, Treyton Hoffman, 20, of London was found guilty of manslaughter after a jury found that he played a key role in luring 16-year-old Malik McDonnell-Mills to a spot in the Glen Cairn area in southeast London where he would be killed. Once there on that summer day in August 2023, two others would be involved in chasing and viciously stabbing the teen to death. Hoffman was scheduled to have his sentencing hearing today before Justice Patricia Moore with the Crown asking that the court impose a seven-year prison sentence. However, the matter was adjourned because Hoffman’s lawyer, Lakin Afolabi, was ill. The hearing was rescheduled for June 26. Meanwhile, the other two involved in the stabbing are young offenders and cannot be identified. They pled guilty to manslaughter in late December for their participation in the killing. They are expected to be sentenced on Sept. 10.
