Multiple agencies are investigating following a death inside the Maple Leaf Foods (MLF) poultry processing plant in London, Ont. The exact circumstances surrounding the death are unclear, but the incident occurred inside the facility on Thursday. The London Police Service, the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario, and the Ministry of Labour are investigating. Flags outside the factory on Wilton Grove Road are flying at half-mast. In an emailed statement, MLF spokesperson Victoria Berry called the death “a tragic incident.” She confirmed MLF is co-operating with authorities and conducting its own internal investigation. She added that the employee’s family members and MLF team members are being offered support during an “incredibly difficult time.” London police tell CTV News London it is believed the death was accidental.
