Karlie McCullough, owner of Fitness Collective Social Club, said she saw a gap in London’s social scene and wanted to create a space where people could connect through fitness. “I found there was a lack of diverse fitness activities in London that were inclusive to every Gen Z, not just Western and Fanshawe students,” said McCullough. “We decided to start this huge community for it based solely on social media promotion.” Having gained traction on social media, McCullough said the response from the community has been amazing. “We have over 400 members right now which is awesome,” said McCullough. “We usually charge around $10 for every event, and we’ve had events where up to 200 people come out.” McCullough studies business at Western University. “Entrepreneurship has always been my passion,” said McCullough. “Having this club and building a community around a business is my end goal for sure.” The club hosts bi-weekly events across London and has a run club every Saturday.
