One person has died following a two-vehicle collision that occurred early Wednesday afternoon on Dundas Street, just east of the city limits. Middlesex Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the crash at approximately 1:00 p.m. in Thames Centre Township. The collision involved a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a commercial straight truck. Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles and were transported to a local hospital. The driver of the SUV sustained life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the straight truck suffered minor injuries. Following the collision, the commercial truck reportedly travelled off the roadway, damaging several vehicles at a used car lot on the north side of Dundas Street. Dundas Street will remain closed from Shaw Road to Heritage Road throughout the evening as police conduct their investigation. Fairview Road is also affected. Middlesex OPP are appealing for witnesses and requesting dash camera footage from anyone who was in the area around the time of the crash. Information can be provided by calling 1-888-310-1122.
