Two Western Mustangs football players earned major honours at the OUA’s year-end award ceremony held in Hamilton Thursday. Offensive lineman, Erik Andersen, was named Lineman of the Year for the second consecutive season, while defensive back, Jackson MacKay, took home Rookie of the Year. Andersen just wrapped up his final year of eligibility for the Mustangs, helping their offence lead the OUA with 41.1 points scored per game. MacKay is a London local, who had 37.5 tackles in his debut season with Western. His highlights this year include a Week 4 interception against Carleton, which he ran back 62 yards for his first career touchdown. MacKay was also named to the OUA’s all-rookie team. Andersen, along with Ethan Dolby, Keegan O’Neil, and Max von Muehldorfer, were all named to the OUA’s first all-star team. Seth Robertson, Philippe Cote, and Reed Cloutier were all named to the OUA’s second all-star team. Western’s 2025 football season came to an end in the OUA quarterfinals. They were upset 18-17 by the Guelph Gryphons at Alumni Stadium.
