The rain began early Tuesday morning in Montreal and surrounding areas, and we could see a lot more throughout the day and evening. Environment and Climate Change Canada has parts of southwestern Quebec under a rainfall warning, with a prediction for Montreal to receive between 40-60 mm of rain. Some of the areas impacted include Vaudreuil and the Montérégie. If rainfall totals do amount to that range, it would break a previous record set in 2005 of 27.2 mm of rain in Montreal. The low-pressure system causing the heavy rain is stemming from a warm front down south, and it could cause reduced visibility, and rain pooling on roads and low-lying areas. Environment Canada says the rain continue into the early morning hours on Wednesday with periods of drizzle in the forecast, followed by cloudy skies after sunrise. Thursday will bring the return of sunshine, with the potential of 2mm of rain overnight. Keep that umbrella close by as Montreal is expecting around 16mm of rain again on Friday.
