Albertans who are registered to vote in next week’s referendum can now cast their advance ballots ahead of the main voting day. Lineups began forming at many advance polling stations in Calgary on Monday morning. Some lineups are believed to take about an hour and a half to get through, while others could be much longer. Voters can show up at any voting location in their electoral division to cast a ballot during the advance voting period, provided they have not cast a mail-in ballot already. They must also bring identification that shows their address. Calgarians can find out where their advance polling stations are by consulting their voter information card or by going to the Elections Alberta website. If this period is missed, then they must go to their assigned voting station, listed on their “where to vote” card on Oct. 19.
