Two men in Regina are facing several charges for carrying weapons and fleeing police officers. At around 10:20 p.m. on Friday, officers spotted two men riding bicycles in a business parking lot on the 2600 block of Dewdney Avenue. Both men were carrying canisters of bear spray in plain view, according to police. The police service’s aerial support unit monitored the men as they travelled to the 2900 block of Dewdney Avenue, where officers on the ground approached the men and told them they were under arrest. Both men allegedly resisted arrest and attempted to flee police on their bicycles. One was arrested quickly, while the other continued fleeing on foot briefly before he was arrested. Officers seized bear spray and a knife from one of the men and just bear spray from the other. A 26-year-old man faces charges of carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a weapon and resisting arrest. A 33-year-old man faces two counts of possessing a weapon and one count of resisting arrest. The two accused will make their first appearance on their charges in Regina Provincial Court on Nov. 18.
