An off-duty officer called police after seeing a speeding vehicle at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 11 in Temiskaming Shores. “Temiskaming OPP located a black 2020 Honda SUV travelling at a speed of 166 km/h and conducted a traffic stop near West Road,” police said in a news release Thursday. “The 31-year-old driver from Fredericton, N.B., was initially arrested after failing to identify himself to police.” The man was charged with stunt driving, speeding and failing to surrender a driver’s licence. In addition to the charges, the motorist’s driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days. The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Haileybury at a later date.
