A world-renowned author will be in town Thursday night discussing his latest novel. New York Times best-selling author Linwood Barclay is set to speak at Barrie’s Georgian Theatre from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. about his latest book “Not a Word.” Hosted by the Barrie Public Library as a part of the fall author talk series, An Evening with Linwood Barclay will have him discuss his writing, career and the stories behind some of his best-selling thrillers, the genre he’s most known for. The novel is Barclay’s latest thriller and it’s about a man whose world turns upside down when he comes across a grisly crime scene in the family home. Author Stephen King, known for horror writing, has publicly recognized Barclay’s “Not a Word.” As quoted on the official website of Linwood Barclay, King says: “This book is in the can’t-put-down category.” Barclay has written 20 novels after spending 30 years writing for newspapers. He’s sold millions of copies of his books around the world and has had them translated into more than 24 different languages. Barclay also wrote the screen adaptation for his novel “Never Saw It Coming.” His books “The Accident” and “No Time for Goodbye” have been turned into television series in France. While Barclay was born in the U.S., he’s been living in Canada since he was 4 years old. When he was 11, his family moved to Kawartha Lakes, where they bought Green Acres, a 10-acre cottage resort and trailer park on Pigeon Lake, just south of Bobcaygeon. In his teenage years, he helped run the resort, which he wrote about in his memoir “Last Resort.” The library tells CTV News 165 tickets have been sold for the author talk. Tickets are $15 and can still be purchased through TicketPro. Parking is included in the ticket price. This author talk is one of two in the fall series the library is hosting. Known as ‘Rick the Temp,’ Canadian television broadcaster Rick Campanelli will be the next special guest coming up on Nov. 12.
