Ontario Provincial Police say a motorcyclist died following a crash on Highway 94 in Callander. OPP said officers responded to a report of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle at about 3 p.m. on Thursday. “The motorcyclist was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased, despite lifesaving efforts,” an OPP spokesperson said in an email to CTV News shortly before 9 p.m. Highway closed for about five hours The highway was closed between Lansdowne Street and Highway 654 following the crash. In a social media post shortly before 4 p.m., OPP announced the road closure and urged motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes. At the time, police said injuries were being assessed. Highway 94 was closed for about five hours as the on-site investigation was conducted before reopening shortly before 8 p.m., OPP said on social media. Investigation ongoing “The investigation is ongoing,” the OPP spokesperson said. Police have not released any details about the victim, the cause of the crash or whether any charges are being considered.
