Police in North Bay say a 52-year-old local woman is in custody following a weapons-related incident on Trout Lake Road this week. Officers seize weapon Police said officers responded to a call in the 2100 block of Trout Lake Road at about 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 17. Police said according to that report the accused had pointed a loaded crossbow at a victim while making threatening remarks. “Upon arrival, officers seized the weapon,” the North Bay Police Service said in a news release Wednesday. “The accused fled on foot and was arrested a short time later.” Weapon threats treated seriously “Threats involving weapons are taken seriously and can pose a significant risk to both police officers and the public,” said Acting Deputy Police Chief Jeff Warner. “In this case, frontline officers responded quickly, intervened, and seized the weapon, helping to reduce the risk of further harm.” Multiple charges laid The woman was charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats to cause death and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order. The accused appeared for a bail hearing on Aug. 18 and was remanded into custody. She is scheduled to appear in court again on Aug. 26.
