The Ottawa Senators have head coach Travis Green locked in through the rest of this decade. The Sens announced a contract extension for Green that runs through the end of the 2030-31 season. Coaching staff members Nolan Baumgartner, Ben Sexton, Mike Yeo and goaltending coach Justin Peters also received multi-year contract extensions, the team announced. Green became head coach on May 7, 2024. He is the 14th head coach in franchise history and helped lead the Senators to the playoffs in his first two seasons. “When I was in the search to identify our head coach two years ago, it was clear to me that Travis had the qualities to move our team forward. I have watched him implement systems and structures that have reinforced my belief in his coaching abilities,” said Senators general manager Steve Staios in a news release. “We share the same vision and philosophy and are confident we can continue to build on our team.” Green recently earned his 95th victory behind the Ottawa bench last week, with a 2-1 victory over the New York Islanders. The Senators have six wins in nine games played so far this season. The team hosts the Florida Panthers on Wednesday, marking the return of former captain Brady Tkachuk to Ottawa since his trade during the last off-season.
