Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers seized 127 kg of suspected cocaine at the Ambassador Bridge border crossing between Windsor, Ont. and Detroit. CBSA officials said it was seized from a commercial truck arriving from the United States on Sept. 11, 2026. After being referred for a secondary examination by a CBSA officer, border services officers used the assistance of a detector dog to detect and seize 127 kg of suspected cocaine in the trailer. “This seizure at the Ambassador Bridge shows the important work our border services officers do every day to keep illegal drugs out of Canada. Their experience, attention to detail and use of technology helped stop a significant amount of cocaine from entering the country. Working with our law enforcement partners, we are disrupting cross-border drug trafficking and protecting Canadian communities,” said Michael Prosia, regional director general for the CBSA’s Southern Ontario Region. The CBSA arrested Vasyl Galychyn, 61, and Anton Chernyshov, 41, both of Mississauga, Ont. The two men and the seized narcotics were transferred by CBSA officers to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). The RCMP charged Galychyn and Chernyshov with importation of cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The case is currently before the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor. The charges are subject to validation by the court.
