The Ottawa Titans secured a spot in the Frontier League Championship for the first time in franchise history after completing a sweep of their series against the New York Boulders Friday evening. The Titans won the 3-2 match in front of a league playoff record crowd of 7,912 people, earning the title of Atlantic Conference Championships. “Our dream came true and that was what we wanted to do when we first got here five years ago, and we were close a couple times, and now we’re there,” manager Bobby Brown told CTV News following the game. “We’ll enjoy this one and we’ll get back to work.” While Ottawa was up 3-0 by the fourth inning, the Boulders nearly mounted a comeback and were only one run behind in the seventh inning. The Titans managed to hold off their opponents to complete their second series sweep in a row. Designated hitter Hunter Stokely drove in two of Ottawa’s runs, while starting pitcher Evan Grills gave the Titans five strong innings on the mound, striking out seven and allowing just one earned run. “We’re hot. We got a good, loose group of guys and we’re just having fun. It doesn’t seem like the playoffs, just seems like another day,” Grills said. The Titans will play the winner of the Midwest Conference Championship series, either the Washington Wild Things or the Evansville Otters. The Ottawa Titans will be on the road for games one and two, but will host games three, four and five at home at Ottawa Stadium.
