A 12-year-old boy is facing charges related to a weapons offence in Regina. Regina police say officers, including the Aerial Support Unit, were called to the area of Dixon Crescent at about 10:10 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6. The officers were responding to a report that a group of youths had been approached by three male youths. According to police, one of the suspects allegedly threatened the group with a firearm. The Aerial Support Unit located three individuals matching the suspects’ descriptions walking nearby and directed officers on the ground to their location. All three youths were taken into custody. Police later released two of them following the investigation. During a search of one suspect after arrest, officers say they found an airsoft handgun and a can of bear spray. The 12-year-old suspect was arrested without incident. His name cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He will make his first appearance in Regina Provincial Youth Court on June 16.
