Dandy’s Artisan Ice Cream is closing its doors after more than seven years in Regina. The local ice cream shop, which has two locations in the city, announced the closure in a social media post Friday. Dandy’s said what started as an idea became something everyone was proud to have built, a business with a meaningful presence in the community. The business is known for serving up homemade artisan ice cream, coffee and espressos, as well as chocolate. The ice cream is made using local, seasonal ingredients, with the business taking pride in supporting local companies who share the same passion as them. The post went on to say building the business “required years of hard work, dedication, sacrifice, creativity, and more behind-the-scenes effort than most people will ever see.” “It challenged us, helped us grow, and gave us the opportunity to create countless memories and lasting relationships along the way.” Dandy’s flagship location opened at 4570 Albert St. on Feb. 9, 2019. The second location on 4270 E Buckingham Dr. opened in 2023. Dandy’s final day in Regina will be Sept. 27, 2026. The post expressed gratitude for everyone who had visited the shop in the past and welcomed people to come say goodbye before the closing date. “While it is bittersweet to say goodbye to something that has been such a significant part of our lives, we are closing our doors with pride in what we created and immense gratitude for everyone who helped make it possible,” the post read. Dandy’s was founded by Daniela Mintenko, who grew up in Colombia, where ice cream was a popular homemade dessert. She completed her Pastry Arts Diploma in Vancouver. The name Dandy’s is a combination of Mintenko’s name and the names of her three ice-cream-loving dogs: Teddy, Crazy and Cherry.
