Cut Knife RCMP are asking the public to be on the lookout for a 19-year-old man charged following an attempted vehicle theft on Poundmaker Cree Nation. Police say officers responded around 12:30 a.m. Friday after receiving a report that an armed man approached an occupied truck and tried to steal it. The driver, who was alone in the truck, drove away and the man fled on foot. The driver did not report any physical injuries. As a result of the investigation, Jeremiah Sokwaypnace, 19, has been charged with robbery with a weapon and several firearms and weapons offences. He also faces two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. RCMP say Sokwaypnace is five-foot-nine, weighs 170 pounds and has short brown hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo on his left hand. Police say he may be driving a black Dodge 1500 truck and is known to travel to Cut Knife, North Battleford and Lloydminster, Alta. RCMP warn the public not to approach Sokwaypnace, saying he may be armed and is considered dangerous. Police say they will notify the public if there is a risk to public safety. Anyone who sees him or has information about his whereabouts is asked to contact police or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers. Poundmaker Cree Nation is located about 75 kilometres northwest of North Battleford.
