A Saskatchewan family is still searching for answers decades after their mother was murdered. Sept. 15, 2026 marks 35 years since Jean LaChance was found dead in a wooded area south of Prince Albert’s Victoria Hospital. LaChance, who was 29 years old at the time, was last seen in the 3500 block of 2nd Avenue West the previous day. An investigation found she was the victim of a homicide. The Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) is renewing calls for the public’s help in solving the cast. LaChance had five children — ranging from four to 11 years old — at the time of her death. They’re still looking for answers and closure. Her son Theron, who was four years old when his mother died, has previously asked for anyone with information to come forward. “To anyone who knows anything regarding my Mom, any information, anything at all, whether you think it is small, everything is helpful,” Theo Morin said on the 33rd anniversary of her death. The PAPS Historical Crimes and Missing Persons Unit (HCMPU) continues to investigate. Anyone with information on LaChance’s death is asked to contact police or submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
