Toronto police have released images of two people accused of stealing an elderly victim’s gold jewelry during a distraction theft in North York. Police said the incident happened on May 29 in the area of Dufferin Street and Finch Avenue West. A female suspect seated in the backseat of a white car waved the victim over to her vehicle, police said. When the victim came, the suspect allegedly placed fake jewelry around the victim’s neck before removing their gold necklace and charm. Police said she and a male suspect driving the car then fled. In a news release on Wednesday, investigators identified the suspects as 20-year-old Elena Costantin and 26-year-old Ion Miclescu. They are both wanted for theft under $5,000. Anyone with information about their whereabouts is being asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
