Police in Saanich are seeking witnesses after a motorcyclist died from injuries suffered in a crash there Friday. The single-vehicle collision occurred in the 5200 block of West Saanich Road just before 5:30 p.m., the Saanich Police Department said in a news release Saturday. Officers were called to the scene by B.C. Emergency Health Services, the SPD said, adding that paramedics and Saanich firefighters were attempting to save the rider’s life when police arrived. “The rider was transported to hospital in critical condition,” the release reads. “Sadly, they have since died as a result of their injuries.” Police did not share any identifying information about the deceased, such as age or gender. The department said its major crime unit is now investigating.
