A rainfall warning has been issued for parts of west-central Alberta as a wet-weather system approaches the province. While the south might not be under any watches/warnings/advisories from this incoming low, we will still get a good dose of rain come Friday. Before the rain, we get a sunny start to Thursday with more clouds moving in over the afternoon that could turn into isolated thunderstorms throughout the evening. The rain will start falling over Calgary as early as 1 a.m., with the heaviest amounts of rain looking to fall during the late morning, transitioning to scattered showers throughout the rest of the day. What’s interesting with this particular event is its movement. The rain first begins to fall in the rainfall warning area and then takes a north-to-south path, soaking Calgary, Lethbridge and surrounding areas in the process. The system will track out of Alberta late Friday as an upper ridge of high pressure pushes its way in from the west. This will bring some enjoyable conditions to the city for Saturday and Sunday with a mix of sun and cloud and seasonal temperatures in the low 20s.
