Elections Alberta has extended hours at select polls on the last advance vote day for the referendum after heavy winds temporarily closed facilities. Two Hills Recreation Centre was closed at 2:20 p.m. for wind disruptions, the agency said, and remained closed until further notice. Voters were redirected to Vegreville. The following locations also had hours extended due to high winds: There are also two locations that were temporarily closed for a separate incident near Ma-Me-O Beach, southwest of the County of Wetaskiwin: Ma-Me-O Beach Community Hall and Co-op Place Wetaskiwin. Both stations will stay open until 8:30 p.m. RCMP noted an active shooter threat in the area, which has since resolved, sent the area into a lockdown. The suspect was in custody by Saturday afternoon. Voters are asked to check the Elections Alberta website for further updates.
