One person is dead after being struck by a train Friday morning on tracks near a major south Edmonton intersection. Patrick Waldron, a communications and media relations representative for Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), told CTV News Edmonton that a company freight train “made contact with a person” on the tracks crossing 75 Street just south of Argyll Road. He said the train did not derail and that the incident remains under investigation. Edmonton police closed the intersection to traffic in the mid-morning. The train cleared the crossing several hours later, but police and fire crews kept the road shut down while they investigated. The intersection reopened shortly after noon.
