As summer winds down, road resurfacing work is ramping up to beat the start of winter. Crews are hard at work this week, scraping off the top layer of asphalt, applying a tack coat and then putting down new asphalt. All told, the Region of Waterloo is planning to repair 90 roads over the next two months. The work began in Wellesley Township last week and transitioned into Woolwich on Thursday. Wilmot is up next with crews heading to the township starting on Monday, following by Kitchener and Waterloo at the end of August and into mid September and then Cambridge and North Dumfries are last, with that work expected to take place between Sept. 10 and Sept. 26. The region has published a map of the effected roads. Traffic will be maintained throughout the work at all locations, but drivers are being asked to be prepared for potential slowdowns. All businesses will also stay open during construction, but some parking lot entrances may be briefly impacted.
