A North York man is facing multiple charges after Ontario Provincial Police say they seized 650,000 unmarked cigarettes during a vehicle stop in Northumberland, Ont. In a news release, the OPP say they were called to assist a Ministry of Transportation officer during a vehicle stop on Telephone Road in Port Hope at around 2 p.m. on Sept. 21. Police say the investigation later led to the seizure of the cigarettes from the vehicle. As a result, 47-year-old Kevon Beckford, of North York, was charged with trafficking contraband tobacco, possessing unmarked cigarettes for sale, possessing unmarked cigarettes and driving a vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available. None of the allegations have been tested in court but police say Beckford is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg later this year in December.
