Two young children in Mission, B.C., found themselves in potentially dangerous situations on the same day last week—one involving a blow torch and the other a Cadillac Escalade. Mission RCMP said the first incident unfolded the morning of Sept. 18, when a seven-year-old boy discovered a small blow torch in his home. “(The boy) connected a propane cylinder and started a small fire inside his residence,” Mounties said in a statement Friday. “Mission Fire and Rescue Service attended and quickly put out the fire.” The second incident took place later that evening, when a four-year-old boy reportedly took the keys to his parents’ Cadillac Escalade and drove it into two cars parked nearby. Authorities said CCTV video showed the boy starting the vehicle and driving it. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in either of the incidents, but Mounties are warning parents to be vigilant. “These incidents are a good reminder to parents that children can be very resourceful, and can get into a variety of dangerous situations very quickly. Take a look around your home and consider what you could do in order to reduce the potential risks,” RCMP said.
