A business owner from Elora is coping with thousands of dollars worth of damage and loses after his restaurant was broken into. Kevin Zuber, owner of The Cellar Pub and Grill, said when he arrived at the business, a door had been smashed open and some alcohol had been stolen. He said police learned the door had been broken while they were responding to a shed fire at nearby 15 East Mill Street on Friday around 12:30 a.m. The flames destroyed the shed that is just steps away from the restaurant. Two suspects were caught on camera while they were rooting through The Cellar’s storage area. “Just blatant disregard,” Zuber said. “Even watching the footage of them walking up the driveway nonchalantly, them talking in the restaurant. Just didn’t care at all.” Zuber believes the suspects knew where the cameras were before they broke in. At one point in the recording, a suspect pushed the camera’s lens up toward the roof. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police believe the fire and break-in are connected, and are looking for two suspects in their early 20s. Zuber believes they are local. “I hope they’re caught,” he said. “I hope they’re held responsible. They need to know that their actions weren’t just some simple tearing down a door and whatever. Clearly, if they’re connected to the fire, that’s way bigger. That could have been way worse than just the shed. The first suspect was wearing a red jacket with a white liner, black shorts with large, white, horizontal writing and black shoes. The second suspect was wearing a dark blue jacket, black shorts and white shoes.
