A youth riding an e-scooter was taken to hospital following a collision with a car in Kitchener on Monday night. Waterloo Regional Police, Region of Waterloo Paramedics and Kitchener Fire responded to the collision at Westmount Road West and Brybeck Crescent at about 7:40 p.m. Police said the youth was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. No charges are anticipated. The incident comes as police report dozens of e-scooter collisions involving vehicles in the region. Between Aug. 17, 2025, and Aug. 17, 2026, Waterloo Regional Police recorded 38 e-scooter collisions with vehicles that resulted in injuries. Police said those collisions resulted in 40 injuries, including four major injuries and 36 minor injuries. Two of the collisions involved both a rider and a passenger on the e-scooter. Police recorded 22 collisions involving e-scooters between Jan. 1 and Aug. 17.
