Guelph Police say $13,000 worth of fentanyl has been recovered from an apartment in the south-end of the city. Earlier this summer, officers began investigating a man who was believed to be supplying the drug to “vulnerable people in the downtown and other areas of Guelph.” A search warrant was carried out at an apartment in the College Avenue West and Vanier Drive area on Wednesday. Police said they found fentanyl, psilocybin and cash, as well as weapons. Those included a sawed-off shotgun with ammunition, a replica gun, prohibited knives, bear spray and brass knuckles. A 55-year-old man was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, three counts of possessing a prohibited weapon, possession of weapons for a dangerous purpose and possession of property obtained by crime.
