A man was transported to hospital in critical condition after a collision on Highway 40 West in Vaudreuil-Dorion, west of the Island of Montreal. According to Quebec provincial police, a vehicle ended up sideways in the path of oncoming traffic and was struck by a second vehicle in the left lane. “The driver of the vehicle that was sideways was badly hurt,” said the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). His injuries are considered critical. He’s in hospital, and we fear for his life. No one in the other vehicle was injured. The collision occurred at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, closing a portion of Highway 40 West near Montée Cadieux. A day after the crash, a passenger who says they were in the second vehicle contacted CTV News to report that multiple people were injured, contrary to information provided by the SPVM. The 19-year-old woman said she suffered a fractured spine that required surgery, adding her nine-year-old sister sustained a fractured tibia and also underwent surgery, while their three-year-old brother fractured his knee.
