A 22-year-old man is dead after being shot in a park in Montreal’s Villeray neighbourhood on Wednesday night. Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 10:30 p.m. about gunshots heard on de Lanaudière and de Castelnau streets. “When police officers arrived on the scene, they made several searches and located the victim in the Turin Park,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, a spokesperson with Montreal police. “The victim is a young man. He was unconscious, and he had a gunshot wound to the upper body.” She explains that paramedics quickly performed CPR on the man. “Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene,” said Chèvrefils. “The victim has not yet been identified.” There have been no arrests, but officers did locate shell casings on the ground. The investigation is ongoing. This is the 10th homicide on Montreal police territory in 2026.
