Police in North Bay have laid drug charges against a local man and seized a vehicle, cash and suspected cocaine. On Oct. 21, at around 2:40 p.m., police said the man was trafficking drugs in the 400 block of Main Street East. Police said he was located shortly afterward in the 300 block of Lake Heights Road and taken into custody. “Suspected cocaine and items consistent with drug trafficking were seized by police in addition to the vehicle used by the accused,” the North Bay Police Service said in a news release Oct. 26. Police executed a search warrant at the Lake Heights Road residence and seized drugs with a street value of close to $7,000, $9,000 in cash and a 2010 Mercedes. “It is very concerning when we see illegal drugs being sold and making their way onto our streets,” said Insp. Scott McFarlane. “Our street crime unit works tirelessly to find out who is bringing drugs into our community, so we can hold them accountable.” As a result, the 47-year-old man has been charged with drug trafficking and possession of the proceeds of property obtained by crime. The accused is in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
