A driver has died after a two-vehicle crash near Arnprior early Saturday, according to Ontario Provincial Police. OPP say officers responded to a collision between an SUV and a transport truck on Highway 17 near Calabogie Road just before 3:30 a.m. The driver and lone occupant of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, OPP Const. Erin Cranton tells CTV News Ottawa. No other injuries were reported. Highway 17 is closed in both directions between Campbell Drive and Anderson Road. An investigation is ongoing. “The closure is expected to be in place for an extended period of time,” OPP said in a social media post. Driver are advised to plan alternate routes. Eastbound Hwy. 417 closed near Russell OPP officers also responded to a transport truck fire on Highway 417 in Russell, east of Ottawa, just before 5 a.m. No injuries or fatalities were reported in the single-vehicle collision, but the eastbound lanes of the highway remain closed between Limoges Road and St. Guillaume Road. Fire crews remain at the scene. The highway remained closed as of 11 a.m.
