The Chatham-Kent Police Service has arrested three people and laid multiple charges after a violent home invasion in Chatham. On Aug. 10, just before midnight, police were called to a reported home invasion, where they said a group of people forced their way into a home by kicking the front door. Once they were inside, several people were allegedly assaulted and property was stolen. A 16-year-old victim was also reportedly threatened with a knife while another, a 19-year-old man, was assaulted, choked, and threatened with death. Multiple adults and youths connected to the incident have been charged. After the home invasion, CKPS said one of the accused allegedly contacted a victim through social media on Aug. 13. During the interaction, the suspect reportedly threatened to kill the victims and shoot at the home after they learned police were investigating and seeking his arrest. The CKPS Emergency Response Team was sent to a home in Chatham the next day, after learning the suspect may have been armed. The suspect was arrested without injury. Two 22-year-old Chatham men, a 19-year-old Chatham woman, and three young offenders have been charged in connection.
