Fog, mist and drizzle were all in the atmospheric stew on Friday morning in southern Manitoba. Ahead of Friday afternoon, Winnipeg and the southeast will remain cloudy, but also unseasonably warm and humid. Expect daytime highs in the low 20s with humidex values in the upper 20s. Southwestern Manitoba, including Brandon and Dauphin, should enjoy sunshine for much of the afternoon before clouds start to move in. Highs around the region are set to soar into the mid-20s, nearly 10 degrees above normal. Humidex values will feel like the upper 20s, even low 30s. A ridge of high pressure stretching over the central and northern Prairies will bring a mix of sun and cloud to north central and northeastern Manitoba on Friday. The most northwestern areas will remain cloudy. Still, temperatures across all northern regions will remain unseasonably warm. The northernmost communities will reach the upper teens, while areas further south into central Manitoba will sail into the low 20s. It will be a cloudy lead into the weekend Friday across northwestern Ontario. There, too, above normal temperatures close to 20 C are expected. There is also a low chance of a showers or drizzle. The next round of September showers and rain will move in overnight from the Dakotas into southwestern Manitoba, making for a soggy start to the weekend. Rain will spread to Winnipeg and the southeast by Saturday morning. Sunshine will return Sunday – and so will warm temperatures around 20 C.
