One person is dead after a Monday morning fire in the city’s Rockwood neighbourhood. According to a news release, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews were called to a single-family bungalow in the 1000 block of Fleet Avenue at 10:23 a.m. Firefighters arrived at the scene to find smoke coming from the house. They entered the home, launched an interior attack, and declared the fire under control about 25 minutes later. The city said firefighters found one person inside the home and brought them out; however, the individual was declared deceased at the scene. No information about the deceased individual has been released. The city said the fire remains under investigation but is believed to be accidental in nature.
