Three men face fraud charges for staging a vehicle collision in Regina earlier this year. The charges stem from reported two-vehicle collision police responded to on Jan. 4, 2026. Officers arrived at the intersection of Ninth Avenue and Pinkie Road, finding the vehicles that appeared to be involved in a head-on collision. Four people in total were there, with a driver and passenger in each vehicle. They all remained at the scene and were later transported to hospital for what seemed to be serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. In a Thursday news release, police say both vehicles involved sustained “significant” damage. Police say SGI notified them several months later, noting the collision may have been intentionally staged. That prompted an investigation involving the SGI Special Investigators Unit, members from RPS’s Investigative Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team, and Forensic Identification Unit and Technological Crime Unit. The investigation determined the collision had been deliberately staged. As a result, 23-year-old Sukhveer Kaur, 24-year-old Akashdeep Singh and 26-year-old Gagandeep Singh have all been charged with fraud over $5,000. Akashdeep and Gagandeep also face three counts each for dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm. The trio made their first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on Sept. 10.
