One person is facing charges after an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven in northeastern Alberta. Mounties responded to the convenience store in Cold Lake at 3:50 a.m. on Wednesday. According to a news release a man threatened the cashier with a gun before firing a round into the counter display. The thief got away with $15 in cash. The suspect was found a short distance from the store and arrested. A gun was found on him. A 28-year-old from Saddle Lake is charged with robbery with a firearm, pointing a firearm, discharge of a firearm with intent, unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon, assault with a weapon, two counts of possession of a weapon while prohibited, and failing to comply with a release order. He remains in custody and will appear in court on Thursday via CCTV. Cold Lake is about 300 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
