London police are investigating a fatal shooting in the downtown core that left a man dead. Officers were called an apartment building at the corner of Central Avenue and Richmond Street at about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday after receiving reports of a possible shooting. Employees of a neighbouring barber shop said they heard a gunshot, described as a pop and then witnessed a person leaving the apartment building before running towards Victoria Park. EMS arrived to the apartment where police said a man suffering from life-threatening injuries was located and transported to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. One man has been arrested and the investigation remains ongoing. The London police K9 unit arrived on scene. Officers with the police dogs were investigating in the area near Victoria Park. Another officer was stationed outside one of the three apartments were the shooting took place. Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., and who may have information, dash-cam footage or residential or business surveillance video, to contact the London Police Service at 519-661-5670.
