Days after Vancouverites broke the record for the highest advance voter turnout in a municipal election, that record has been broken again. On Wednesday, voters cast 25,142 ballots, the highest single-day advance voter turnout on record, according to the city. The figure surpasses the record 21,824 people who showed up on Saturday, and is more than double the 10,502 people who voted on the second day of advance voting in the 2022 municipal election. The city says wait times were low despite the high turnout Wednesday. For this election, there are 59 places you can cast a vote in advance, way up from 22 four years ago. In addition, the City of Vancouver saw a record number of requests for vote-by-mail packages by Oct. 1. More than 18,000 people asked to vote by mail, far higher than 10,523 in 2022. There are two more days of advance voting to go: on Oct. 10 and 13 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. A list of all voting locations can be found on the Vancouver Votes website. Election day is Oct. 17. There are a staggering 130 names on the ballot this year, and Vancouverites will be asked to vote for one mayor, 10 councillors, seven park board commissioners, nine school trustees, and answer three capital plan questions and two plebiscite questions.
