Police in Vancouver say one man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with a deadly stabbing last year in the city’s downtown core. James Christopher Holmgren, 35, was arrested by homicide detectives on Tuesday, according to a news release from the Vancouver Police Department. Police said Holmgren was charged in the killing of 20-year-old Aymen Al-Hafidh, who died in hospital after he was stabbed on Nov. 17, 2025. The victim was found at approximately 3:15 p.m. that day near the intersection of Granville and Helmcken streets. The killing marked Vancouver’s 25th homicide of 2025.
