A red bicycle, mismatched gloves and a string of smashed windows are at the centre of a Campbell River RCMP investigation after several local businesses were hit in recent days. At least four businesses had windows smashed in the early morning hours of Aug. 14, with the damage occurring between about 1:30 and 2 a.m., police said. Surveillance footage captured one suspect dressed entirely in black and wearing one yellow glove and one grey glove. The person was also associated with a red bicycle. Another local business was hit around 6:15 a.m. Aug. 15, when a window was smashed. Police were called to a restaurant just after 2 a.m. Aug. 17 following a reported break-and-enter. A patio window had been smashed, and police allege two suspects entered the restaurant. Investigators are still gathering evidence and working to determine whether the incidents are connected. Police are urging anyone who sees suspicious activity to call 911 while it is happening. Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to contact Campbell River RCMP at 250-286-6221.
